Introduction
The GHB19 incarnation of my ever-tuned BCR list, using only the best stuff we have access to. Time to test!
Allegience Ability
With your 2 rolls on the everwinter table, generally pick 3″ move or rr1s to save if your frostlords are getting into combat.
Artefacts, Command Traits & Abilities
Ethereal is obvious and even more necessary now. Thermalrider doesn’t cut it as your monsters die too quick for the flying retreats to matter too much. Doppelganger would be a consideration, but after the nerf you can’t even activate it until the GKoTG has already killed you half the time.
Sepulchural is only a 6+ ward, but with our faction’s artefacts being trash, it’s the next best option.
RR1s to hit is a fine new CA we have access to, besides the power of 6s to run on dudes who can run&charge.
Heroes
FLoSH damage is of course feast and famine, but you gotta bet big to win big in factions like BCR.
Fungoid Cave Shamans are simply the best wizards we have available. Command Points are even more important now and summoning the cauldron gives them access to all the moonclan lores including the powerful itchy nuisance.
Icebrow hunter is useless on the table, but he lets us take cats as battleline.
Other Units
Frost Sabres are excellent time-wasters. It doesn’t matter that witches or daemonettes do infinite damage if they have to spend a whole combat phase killing 2 of them. There’s also a fun tactic where you keep 2 cats close to your yetis and charge the cats in. Then your opponent has to activate to kill them, allowing all the nearby yetis to 6″ pile-in without swing-backs.
Icefall Yhetees can activate from and pile in 6″ which lets you sidestep the activation wars a little, and their -1 to get hit is annoying (though they explode to shooting or rend). Their damage is spiky, but 6 can do well in combat.
Battalions
Skal lets you deepstrike your cats in order to be even more annoying.
Allies
Fungoids explained in hero section above.
Magic, Endless & Realm Spells
Cauldron explained above – really a must-have.
In-Game Guide
Why are there so many drops? Because you want to place your two frostlords in the perfect spots to counter your opponent’s deployment, and maximize yeti positioning, and maximize your annoyance.
This list is fuckin majestic! I might’ve preferred big units of yhetis but fuck me id love to give this list a go!!!
Correct me if I am wrong but in the allies section it states BCR can take troggoths and aleguzzler gargants, not grots or their shaman?
Heywoah is proof that true love for a faction – no matter how bad the faction is, how misguided the love is – will always win in the end.
“True love always wins” was the tagline for AoS that just lost out to “Mighty battles in an age of unending war”.
I know where my vote lies.
