My take on the movement damage idea that Rob mentioned in the latest show.
Movement Damage provided by the Phoenix’s and Gyrocopters, an immortal Phoenix Guard block & Frostheart Phoenix Death-star & movement debuffs from the Battlemage.
Ticks all the boxes and sounds super fun to play!
Vengeful Revenants– +1 Hit & Wound rolls for melee attacks (Army wide) if any friendly Phoenician units have been destroyed- Trigger this by “yeeting” your Gyrocopters into fights they will loose (after they have dropped bombs) while your Phoenix Guard and Phoenix’s are also in combat- This is why the Gyrocpters are in minimum unit sizes of 1. Phoenix Guard hitting and wounding on 2’s!
Blood of the Phoenix– +1 wound to all Phoenix- Beefy Birds
Living Idol– Command Ability- Allows models in a Phoenicium unit to fight before they are removed in the combat phase- Situational- use this on the Phoenix Guard-which you then bring back with Golden Mist and the Emerald Lifeswarm
Amplified Sorcerers– Empowered Endless Spells- Emerald Lifeswarm heals d6 wounds!
Artefacts, Command Traits & Abilities
One with Fire & Ice– Command Trait- Can cast one spell from the Phoenicium Spell Lore- We’ve used this to take Golden mist on the Frostheart General who can heal himself and the other phoenix’s.
Pyre Ashes– Artefact- Heal 1 wound to the bearer for each natural roll of a 6 for armour saves– This, combined with Golden Mist, Emerald Lifeswarm and the Frost-heart’s Ability make him nearly indestructible.
Magic, Endless & Realm Spells
Golden Mist– Cast Value 6- Heal d3 wounds to every visible Phoenicium unit within 12″- On the Frostheart General with spell command trait.
Amber Tide– Cast Value 6- Half the movement of an enemy unit within 18″- Slow a unit down so you can strafe it with your Phoenix’s and Gyrocopters.
Mystifying Miasma– Cast Value 4- Target an enemy unit within 18″, that unit cannot run and must subtract 2 from charge rolls– the Battlemage‘s Warscroll spell, similar function to the Amber Tide spell,but a bit easier to cast.
Emerald Lifeswarm– Cast Value 6- Endless Spellthat heals d6 wounds or brings back d6 wounds worth of models. Empowered by Citiesof Sigmar Allegiance Ability
Use the Freeguild guard to screen your Gyrocopters and Phoenix’s. Fly over whatever hits the screen and blow it up!- I would split this into two flanks- a screen, 1/2 Phoenix’s and 2/3 Gyrocopters.
Use the Phoenix Guard, Battlemage and Frostheart as a death-star block to hold objectives or slowly walk up the board.
