This is a man named Rob’s first attempt to standardise the language with which we all talk to each other in wargaming and to make you a better gamer. Incredibly egotistical of him and a gross overestimation of his writing ability, but here we are.
He assumes there are better gamers and informers, but has been flirting around this idea for 4 years of producing content; from Bravery One, creating Warhammer Live and now with The Honest Wargamer. Once you’ve read through the book and work through it’s questions, you’ll hopefully arrive at a better way to approach the game.

I have started reading this and it’s without doubt the best resource I’ve ever seen for competitive table top gamers, Rob you should be very proud!
+1!Have you considered having it translated though?
The term Scornagy should be spelt Skornergy, named after the Skorne from Warmachine/Hordes.
It’s about how two pieces in an army are Anti-Synergistic. Not to be confused with “These two pieces should never be taken in the same army” but more “You need to understand how the pieces work in order to avoid potential problems.”
AoS does a good job of keeping them few and far between, but an example would be the Keeper of Secrets in a Slaanesh Allegiance Army. The Keeper is a powerful hero that provides plenty of wound output and can take plenty of wounds to power the army’s ‘Feed on Depravity’ ability, which is powered by dealing non-slaying wounds from/to Slaanesh Heroes. However, the Keeper of Secret’s ‘Dark Temptations’ ability is Skornergistic with the army ability. The ability is good on it’s own in the sense that you remove a threat from the board, but anti-synergistic if you need those extra Depravity Points to put a unit on an uncontested objective.
Thanks for posting this, I was itching to do it myself 😉
Yes, Skorne + synergy = Skornergy, because Skorne doesn’t do synergy in the obvious way most factions do, whatever the faction whatever the game system. In fact some people might say that Skorne doesn’t do synergy at all ^^
Remember “Skornergy doesn’t exist and different abilities that don’t synergise together are options”

Great work! I’ve been sharing this with everyone I know.
Question: Are you sure you have the shooting part of pinching right? I’m pretty sure you can shoot into combat. You just have to shoot the unit you’re engaged with.
Just got into AoS post-Christmas and this book really helped me get prepped for my first tournament. Thanks!
