Hello, I’m Rob and I am but one cog in the unstoppable machine which is the tSN Stats Centre. I input the week’s lists so the data can be collated and presented by Ziggy with analysis by the other Rob.
This week we have had 4 events with a total of 333 players of which 57 were able to get 4+ wins, moreover this was across 21 of the current 27 factions. Gloomspite Gitz, Stormcast and Ogors Mawtribes having the most 4+ wins. .
Of the 6 factions that didn’t manage 4 or more wins this weekend there are a few that aren’t really a surprise. Big Waaagh, Bonesplitterz, Hedonites of Slaanesh and Kharadron Overlords all previously have had such a small player base that any actual players seems like an anomaly in of itself. The two that I was surprised at however were Soulblight Gravelords and Seraphon.
Soulblight Gravelords have always had a fairly high meta representation and so previously there always seemed to be someone doing ok with them. With the changes in this GHB, I thought they were actually better with not having their battleline decimated by bounty hunters and good Gallatien Champions they should be able to score well. Maybe someone needs to run the 200+ Zombie list that has been going round the internet, you know who you are.
Seraphon are a strange one, being one of the strongest battletome for a while the players seem to have put them down finally and moved onto something else, to everyone’s rejoicing. Maybe it is the repeated rules adjustments and points increases (remember when salamanders were 80 points, that was fun) that have pushed people away. Their rules are still very very strong, teleports, summoning, ranged mortals I am sure they will post some results soon and with the upcoming release their meta representation will sky rocket, subtract 1 from save rolls anyone?
One trend I am seeing from events is that they are heavily leaning into the new battleplans with 4 or 5 of the games coming from the GHB 22-23 season 2. With only 2 of the 6 battleplans having 4 objectives that are scorable for the whole game we are seeing a move to a smaller unit count armies with bigger more deadly or resilient units. I wish we had The Silksteel Nests & Close to the Chest back, I believe it would have a big impact on the meta.
Finally earlier this month I put up a poll to see which army people thought was the strongest with Lumineth Realmlords coming on top. It will be interesting to see if this plays out in the stats with around 2000 games played this season already and if people’s opinions change over the coming months. However I would always bet on the player over the list.
